The Library of Congress, Washington

When the Library of Congress decided to solve its wayfinding and signage problems, Wayfinding Associates worked closely with stakeholders from the library and the Architect of the Capitol, pointing out underlying issues, suggesting solutions, projecting costs and providing a framework for implementation.  A  wayfinding and sign program was developed that met the unique challenges of the LOC’s three distinctively different, historic buildings while creating a manageable system for easy maintenance.  The new sign system has been designed to be updated in-house using existing software and hardware and a sign maintenance protocol has been developed to create the necessary framework needed to keep the signs accurate and relevant.
